CS2 May Significantly Improve FPS: Animgraph2 Beta Shows Significant Stability Improvement

The CS2 community has released the first performance tests following the latest changes to the beta version of the game, and the results are encouraging. A Reddit user ran a series of five benchmarks on Dust2 and recorded significant improvements in 1% and 0.1% low FPS—metrics that directly impact gameplay smoothness.

What the tests showed

According to tests, the average FPS has increased slightly, but the main change is stability:

  • 1% low FPS has improved significantly
  • Low FPS also increased by 0.1%
  • Sharp drops during the game have been reduced

The test’s author notes that even in a simple scenario without active animations, the increase is already noticeable, and in real matches it can be even more noticeable.

Why is this important?

Low FPS rates determine how stable the game is during challenging moments—during shooting, clutch matches, or mass firefights.

If these indicators improve:

  • the game becomes smoother
  • freezing during shooting is reduced
  • the sense of control improves

This is especially important for players with average or weaker hardware.

Community reaction
On Reddit, users are actively discussing possible improvements. Many have already noticed a difference even on their PCs:
Those 1% drops look a lot better in the beta… The frame rate drops in crucial rounds were killing me.

In beta, my 1% downside went from 333 to 385, which is incredible.

Play the beta for a while, and you’ll never want to go back to the official version. The game runs so smoothly now.

This may help many users with older equipment.

At the same time, some players emphasize that the results may vary depending on the PC configuration, but the overall trend looks positive.
Preliminary tests show that Valve can significantly improve the stability of CS2, making the game significantly smoother without a large increase in average FPS.
If these changes make it to release without any downsides, it could be one of the most important technical updates to the game yet—especially for players with lower-end computers.
