CS2 received a technical update: Valve increased Trust Factor and improved sound
Counter-Strike 2 has released a minor technical update that, while seemingly unrelated, doesn’t add any new content, but significantly changes the game’s key systems. Valve continues to refine core mechanics, from audio to matchmaking, and this time, the focus is on Trust Factor.
Trust Factor now analyzes not only the player, but the entire lobby.
The main change is the expansion of the trust system. While it previously assessed each player individually, Valve is now moving toward analyzing the entire group.
New variables have been added to the game files:
- SteamIDTrustBucketMin
- SteamIDList
- trustbucket_vals
This means the game will now consider the behavior of the entire lobby, not just individual accounts. Therefore, playing on a team with cheaters or suspicious players will now have an even greater impact on your Trust Factor.
Other changes in the update
In addition to the trust system, Valve has made a number of technical improvements:
- Improved player movement analysis (speed, states, steps, and animations)
- The SteamAudio audio system has been updated to provide more accurate sound distribution and reverberation.
- New elements have been added to the animation graph (weapon behavior and movement)
- Improved tools for working with models
- GraphCanvas and localization files have been updated
References to “clothing” have also appeared in the game files, which may hint at future cosmetic innovations.
This update isn’t about new content, but rather about the game’s foundation. Valve is making the matchmaking system more strict against cheaters while simultaneously improving the quality of gameplay through sound and animation.
Trust Factor is getting smarter, which means playing in “bad company” can now cost significantly more.
